I had a half day left in Italy before catching a direct train back to Innsbruck. On the last day in Venice, I met up with a good friend from Canada! We happened to be in Venice at the same time and made a plan to meet up! It’s not everyday someone who goes to the same University as you, happens to be halfway across the world in the same country as you!
We decided to go up St. Mark’s Campanile which is the Bell Tower located in Piazza San Marco. It is easily one of the city’s most recognizable symbols of Venice. With views of the city, ocean and Islands it was well worth waiting in line and small enterance fee.
This is Becky! It was such a joy to connect and here about her travel plans in Europe (from France to Switzerland to wine trips in Italy and then to Greece). It is always special to see a familar face while traveling abroad, and I’m thankful for our short time together.
It was a new experience being in Italy. I wish I was able to see more of the country as I know Venice is such a tiny fraction of the beautiful culture and food Italy has to show the world. Although it really was expensive and crowded compared to many other cities, I still valued my time here and hope to see other parts of Italy soon.
