AAQQIAGIIT: Friends

Someone once told me that they think that all situations are somehow connected to destiny, even the person you end up sitting beside on the plane. So maybe it was destiny, or maybe it was luck that I ended up sitting next to a Greenlandic girl who instantly became a friend.

She introduced herself in Greenlandic, thinking I was also Greenlandic. That made me happy, but I had to smile and apologize for not understanding her. She shared this beautiful narrative about her strong sense of home with her family, attached to place – the expansive open and natural surroundings of her town. We talked almost the entire plane ride. She even helped me with my pronunciation. Mona was my first Greenlandic friend!
